He may have enjoyed a stroke of luck during his previous stint as a player on “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal,” but Negi met a completely different fate this season, as his boldness and confidence during the May 17 episode earned him only P200 as the lucky star player.

Although there’s a superstition that wearing polka-dot outfits—just like the one he sported in the episode—is believed to bring good fortune, it apparently failed to work its magic on Negi this time. He failed to take home a huge amount—unlike in his previous game on the show, where he walked away with the P100,000 offer from Banker.

Host Luis Manzano, with whom he has formed a close bond after working together on several programs produced by ABS-CBN Studios through the years, regards him as one of the dearest people in his life. When asked how he felt about being a player again on “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal,” Negi stated, “Sobrang excited ako kasi noong una akong naglaro rito, hindi ko nakuha ’yong P1 million. Pero ngayon, feeling ko parang lalapit siya sa akin.”

Luis went on to revisit Negi’s journey in the local entertainment scene, from starting out as jester for several Kapamilya programs to becoming one of the popular comedians in the country. The Pambansang Host dug further into Negi’s personal life by having him look back at his life before he became a stand-up comedian, which briefly shifted the mood to a more emotional tone.

Negi playfully pretended to become emotional as he confessed that he usually avoids talking about his family because he did not have a happy childhood. He also shared an unserious version of his coming-out story that almost convinced everyone until he dropped the punchline.

When asked what he would do with the P1 million if he won it, Negi said that he would invest it in another business venture.

Negi decided to swap briefcases with fellow lucky star player Asia Yoona because aside from number 18 being his favorite number and the birthday of his best friend, he took Asia’s eye-catching radiant glow as a sign to pick her briefcase. Moments before the first round of opening of briefcases began, a throwback photo of Negi as a lucky star in a previous season of “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” was flashed on the money board screen, prompting Luis to ask how it felt to be part of the show then and now.

"Syempre sobrang salamat sa mga bumubuo ng ‘Kapamilya Deal or No Deal’ dahil ngayon ay isinasama n'yo pa rin po ako sa show. Salamat sa'yo, Kuya Lu," he said to which Luis replied in jest that it would also be his last.

The comedian really didn’t have a good start because while the first three briefcases he eliminated—including his original briefcase number 6 — contained low amounts, he also lost the P125,000 and P500,000 prizes early on.

Luis continued to delve into Negi’s personal life by bringing up his love life and mentioning that his most recent partner is actually his namesake. Although Negi appeared cheerful, he revealed that he was nursing a broken heart after their breakup, though they remained friends. This prompted Luis to tease him anew with fellow lucky star player Long Mejia, with whom they had also worked on several projects in the past.

Negi may have opened the lowest amount of P1 in the second round, he faced a major setback when the P1 million jackpot prize was opened in the 4th round. He managed to somehow bounce back in the succeeding rounds of until it was only P150,000 and P200 remained on the money board.

Clinging on to hope that his chosen briefcase contained the P150,000, Negi decided to take the risk and said “NO DEAL” to Banker’s last offer of P65,000. Unfortunately, luck was not on his side, as his briefcase turned out to contain P200, leaving him visibly frustrated at first before eventually accepting the outcome.

When asked by Luis how it felt to play again on “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal,” the comedian shared that the experience brought back memories of the show’s earlier seasons, making him even more excited to be part of the ongoing season.

Luis wrapped up the episode by teasing Negi that a kiss from Long might bring his luck back. Negi initially rejected the idea, joking that he’d rather pay Long the Banker’s final offer in installments than to allow it to happen. But in a surprising twist, Negi suddenly kissed Long, leaving everyone stunned. As Long walked away from the stage, Negi quipped, “Ang dami mo pang sinasabi! Pwede namang ituloy na natin.”
