After escaping Bagumbayan Prison, Edong (Jake Cuenca) gets injured in a series of shootouts. He takes temporary refuge at a local pharmacy, then tries to distance himself from the search area by hiding under a bridge, where he is later discovered by children.
As Edong is relentlessly being hunted dead or alive, he encounters the NLEA police force. They open fire, forcing him to jump into the San Dimas River—a moment that deeply pains Lucas (JM de Guzman), as his brother was defenseless during the pursuit.
When things briefly calm down back at the NLEA quarters, Lucas refuses to heed Erica’s (Kaila Estrada) assurances, saying her present goodwill cannot compare to the debt she owes Edong, who endured years of sexual assault inside Bagumbayan due to MABEL's lies and her silence.
A day later, Marco (Race Matias) appears on Erica’s behalf at the same location where Lucas awaits the NLEA police force’s statement on their search for Edong—whom they describe as armed and dangerous. They go on to cite witness accounts and expert opinions regarding Edong’s possible death, along with their ongoing search and retrieval operations.
Fed up with the NLEA’s superficial explanation, Lucas publicly castigates the police, recounting how he saw them shoot at Edong despite him being unarmed and not retaliating at all, and condemning their claim that Edong is already dead without evidence.
As Lucas’ impassioned speech continues—marking the police as murderers—and spreads across Amurao, Mel (Sue Ramirez), Alice (Janella Salvador), Beth (Charlie Dizon), Ryan (Yves Flores), and Erica (Kaila Estrada) look on. The Santiago brothers’ doomed situation and reputation are further aggravated by Amurao residents siding with the police regardless of their violent pursuit of Edong.
Hours later, a subdued Lucas is approached by a concerned Marco. Despite Lucas’ silence, Marco makes a genuine effort to update him on the search party’s plans, including its impending halt. He assures Lucas he can call anytime for help, then pats him on the shoulder.
