ABS-CBN’s Christmas ID 2025, “Love, Joy, Hope: Sabay Tayo Ngayong Pasko,” is sure to give us a last-song syndrome that will linger throughout the cozy Filipino holidays we all share, wherever we are. It is also an undeniable fact that the song will now become part of the unspoken songbooks of Philippine carol singers—a vibrant tradition that never loses its magic across generations.
The actors and actresses of the riveting Kapamilya teleserye “What Lies Beneath,” consisting of Kaila Estrada, Charlie Dizon, Sue Ramirez, JM de Guzman, Jameson Blake, and Mary Joy Apostol, reminisce about the first Christmas carol they ever memorized and performed.
Mutya Orquia, Krystal Mejes, Eliza Borromeo, and Renshi de Guzman, also join the exclusive holiday interview, bringing adorable giggles and festive charm.
Kaila, who plays one of the main characters, Erica, mused on her first-ever Christmas carol sing-along, fondly recalling her time in her grade school choir, where she performed the timeless classic “Joy to the World.”
Her younger counterpart on the series, the dazzling Krystal, talks about a similar experience with the song, reflecting on how she used to sing it for her close relatives as a child.
More members of the show’s MABEL friendship also chose an unforgettable song. Charlie, who plays Beth, and Sue, who plays Mel Barrera-Montenegro, stepped forward confidently, naming the everlasting “Jingle Bells.”
True to their bond on and offscreen, Mutya, who portrays the late Louisa, and Eliza, who portrays the younger Alice Quintana-Miller, dubbed the same Christmas carol as the “OG,” or “original.”
Even Jameson, who embodies the charismatic yet two-faced Anton Montenegro, settles blissfully on the all-time favorite “Jingle Bells,” thinking back to a 2007 Christmas carolling with friends in his province.
For Mary Joy Apostol, known as Teacher Liezel in the teleserye, the vintage holiday tune “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” immediately comes to mind.
Lastly, but equally important, Renshi, who takes on the role of the young Edong Santiago, celebrates a local yuletide hymn, “Sa May Bahay Ang Aming Bati.” The same goes for JM, who brings to life Lucas Santiago, Edong’s younger brother, ending the interview with an adorable live rendition of the song.
Don’t miss them on “What Lies Beneath,” weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), A2Z, TV5, and iWant.
