Many Filipinos find Korean dramas as more than just binge-worthy entertainment. For Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, it has become an instrument for her to unwind, reconnect with family, and simply enjoy life’s moments.
In an Instagram post on May 19, the OPM icon shared how K-dramas have slowly become part of her life, proving that even one of the country’s most loved performers finds joy in the same screen obsessions loved by many. She acknowledged the challenges of following subtitles but said the enjoyment remains, especially when shows are dubbed.
“Hello everyone, I am so into K-dramas nowadays and yes kahit hirap ako magbasa pinapatulan ko na 😂 But most of the time I like it when it’s already dubbed,” she said.

More than the stories on screen, it is the feeling of coming home and spending time with her husband, Ogie Alcasid and their son Nate, that makes the experience special.
“After work, I’m so excited to come home to be with my husband and Nate and to watch my K-drama line up 😂 my little refuge…….with everything that’s happening, I think we all need a little break. I’m not saying for as not to get involved, no. Pero kailangan din nating huminga. God bless all of us 🙏🏼,” she maintained.
Alongside her post, Regine shared a photo of South Korean child actor Park Yoo-ho, who plays baby Woo-joo in the 2026 romantic-comedy drama Our Universe, revealing yet another side of her growing K-drama obsession.
“By the way I’m so obsessed with this baby he has a k-drama I think it’s called Our Universe but it’s not on Netflix 😭”
Even while embracing moments of rest, Regine made it clear that she remains mindful of the realities surrounding Filipinos today, ending her message with a hopeful message.
“anyway sana umayus na ang pamumuhay natin kahit konti Lord please help us,” she ended.
Her candid post quickly resonated with fans and friends online, many of whom expressed happiness seeing the OPM icon enjoying downtime, especially as she prepares for her final major solo concert in October.

Some netizens also joined in the fun by suggesting additional titles for her growing watch list, including Perfect Crown and The Wonderfools.
Back in February 2018, Regine and Ogie showcased their K-drama love through a memorable parody of the hit 2016 romance series Goblin: The Lonely and Great God during their pre-Valentine concert, #paMORE, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The couple delivered a playful gender-bending reenactment of the beloved drama, with Regine portraying the Goblin, Kim Shin, channeling actor Gong Yoo’s iconic blank stare and long dark coat, while Ogie took on the bubbly Ji Eun-tak, originally played by Kim Go-eun, earning laughs.
The performance became even more memorable as the couple serenaded the crowd at the MOA Arena with their rendition of “Beautiful Life,” one of the show’s well-loved soundtrack pieces, while scenes from their parody played onscreen.
