Regine Velasquez revealed that her upcoming concert this year will be her final large-scale solo show.
"I'm celebrating my 40th year in the business and to celebrate that I'm going to have a concert sometime in October pero wala pa kaming date at wala pa kaming venue, but it's going to be my last big concert, to celebrate my 40th year," she said in an interview with Billboard Philippines.
The singer added: "Although I still have some projects next year, but this will be my last big solo concert."
Asia's Songbird also opened up about her thoughts on retirement, emphasizing that it does not mean completely stepping away from music.
"I still have mga projects next year and then eventually I retire... Sabi ng asawa ko retirement means naman not really stopping altogether. It means doing whatever it is that you wanna do, but it will free me from 'yung pressure of trying to please everyone," she remarked.
She added that she does not see retirement as simply staying at home.
"Kasi di ba 'yung concept natin ng retirement is 'yung tumanganga ka na lang sa bahay mo. Parang ayaw ko rin naman nun noh... Parang hindi rin ako sanay nun. Kasi I keep thinking, what am I gonna do next if I retire? I have to find something to do," she said. "But I guess, I don't have to completely stop. Sabi ng asawa ko retirement means hindi ka totally kailangan tumigil, you just have to free of the pressure."
In the same interview, Regine also spoke candidly about how aging has affected her voice and performance.
"When I was younger, I open my mouth and there is a voice because when I open my mouth, there really is a voice. No matter if I'm sick or whatever, or I'm dying, or whatever like rain, shine, I open my mouth and there is a voice. Nowadays, it's not like that anymore only because I've gotten older and I think people don't understand that. Actually, I also don't understand that," she pointed out.

The singer went on: "It's different now. I've gotten older and for women kasi it's different. My voice has gone through a lot of changes, but somehow I'm still able to pull through pero nowadays it's more difficult. Parang 'pag nadadagdagan ng digits 'yung edad ko, parang nababawasan 'yung boses ko. It's getting more difficult to sing."
