Kapamilya star Regine Velasquez-Alcasid took to social media to reassure fans and friends following her recent candid reflection about feeling anxious before performing on stage.
On her X account, Asia’s Songbird expressed gratitude to those who reached out with messages of support and encouragement.
“Hello everyone I know that a lot of you have been worrying about me lately sorry about that 😬 but I’m ok,” Regine said.
The ASAP mainstay clarified that her earlier post was simply part of her reflection as she navigates changes in her life.
“I’m just navigating the challenges and changes in my life as I get older. Ganon talaga yun iba na, but it’s still me, just a different version of me. God bless ❤️,” she added.
She also thanked fans, friends, and colleagues for the love she has been receiving, even joking about the kind of “gifts” she hopes to get next time.
“by the way thank you for all the love I’m feeling it ❤️ Salamat sa paflowers sana next time cash na lang 😂,” she quipped.
Last February 19, Regine opened up about how she felt anxious following her performance duet with American singer-songwriter Josh Groban during his Manila concert. She admitted that performing on stage has recently become a struggle.
“Lately every single performance for me is such a struggle even doing ASAP. And it used to excite me a source of joy but now it give me so much anxiety. I still LOVE singing I do but performing on stage………maybe it’s part of getting old I don’t know. But it’s kinda of heartbreaking 💔 😊.”
Her post drew reactions from fans and fellow artists, including Julie Anne San Jose, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and Darren Espanto, among others.
A fan posted: “You make me proud to be a Filipino.. itinaas mo na naman ang bandera ng Pilipinas dahil sa performance mo kagabi.. also, know that your feelings are valid but I also hope and pray all your anxiety and bad feelings will all be over soon… You are so loved ♥️♥️”
Her husband and fellow OPM icon Ogie Alcasid also wrote: “We love you. We adore you and we support you. Sabay sabay!! Regine!!! Regine Regine!!!”
Meanwhile, her fellow ASAP mainstay and close friend Erik Santos sent his reassurances to Regine and emphasized that her legacy remains firmly intact despite the changes she is experiencing.
“Please know that your legacy as THE Asia’s Songbird is not defined by a single high note or a perfect vocal day. It is defined by more than 4 decades of being the heartbeat of OPM. And even as you navigate the natural changes in your voice dahil sa hormonal change and menopause issues, you remain undeniably one of the best, if not the best, in OPM,” he said.
“Kung may pagbabago man, that change carries the weight of a lifetime of stories. And we thank you for still choosing to show up and share a piece of yourself with all of us even when it’s hard,” he added.
Erik also commended Regine for bravely sharing her vulnerable moments and continuing to inspire others.
“Your honesty about your struggles makes you more than just an icon, it makes you human. Seeing a legend be vulnerable about anxiety on stage inspires us more than any perfect record ever could,” he continued.
