Ogie Alcasid, Ice Seguerra, Rivermaya, others to headline concert vs corruption

"Awit at Aksyon Kontra Korapsyon" will now be the theme of the People Power 40 Kick-Off Concert on February 21 at Quezon Memorial Circle, which aims to motivate and intensify the current battle against corruption in addition to rekindling the spirit of the bloodless and peaceful revolution.

As stated by Kaya Natin and the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG), the concert aims to remind Filipinos that the bravery and solidarity that brought back the nation's democracy in 1986 can still be used to combat corruption today.

“People Power proved that the Filipino people, when united, can stand up to injustice and demand accountability. This concert is a way to honor that legacy while encouraging citizens, especially the youth, to continue the fight for transparency and good governance,” the organizers said.

They hope to emphasize through this event that combating corruption is a shared duty among all Filipinos.

The concert will feature some of the country’s top performers, including Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, Rivermaya, Ice Seguerra, Ebe Dancel, Pio Balbuena, Morobeats, Elmo Magalona, Arkin Magalona, Chelsea Alley, and Over October.

Stand-up comedians Alex Calleja and Red Ollero, actresses Iza Calzado and Bea Binene, and DJ JhaiHo are among those who will add color to the celebration.

Pre-show will begin at 4 p.m., with the main concert starting at 6 p.m.
