Volleyball superstar Alyssa Valdez. PVL Media BureauMANILA — The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) announced Tuesday the plan to hold an Alas Pilipinas Youth Camp in collaboration with volleyball superstar Alyssa Valdez and legendary coach Roger Gorayeb.
PNVF chief Tonyboy Liao shared that the sporting body is in talks with Valdez and her former Ateneo coach, aimed at expanding her personal youth camp and reach far-flung parts of the country.
Being the "Face of Philippine Volleyball," Valdez carries the weight and popularity that could influence the next generation of volleybelles in the country, said Liao.

"I decided to talk with Alyssa Valdez, being the face of volleyball in the Philippines, sabi ko, 'we will bring her to these areas, most likely, maraming sasali," said Liao.
"Three days ago, I was able to talk with Alyssa in Filoil when they had a game," said Liao. "We'll go to the regions... She's very willing to do it."
Liao added they will have a sit-down with Valdez soon to iron out the program. They will also reach out to the local government units to polish the plan.

"So the next few days, I think, tomorrow or Thursday, we'll meet again, paplanuhin na namin when we will do it, when we will start," he said.
Included in the youth camp is a coaches development program, strengthening the PNVF's initiative for volleyball's grassroots development.
