MANILA — The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) announced Tuesday a plan for Alas Pilipinas to join the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Draft and select players for the national team pool.
According to PNVF president Tonyboy Liao, this plan is aimed at addressing the issue of availability of players for the national team, citing previous instances that the Alas Women had problems in forming a lineup.
Coach Tai Bundit, the newly appointed women's coach, will have the luxury of picking young talents from the draft, according to Liao, and there would be no restrictions to many he could select.

Once selected, they will have a minimum of a two-year contract with Alas Women.
"Instead of the club teams making the first pick for this year's draft, it will be the national team," said Liao.
"The national team, under coach Tai [Bundit], who was appointed to coach for Alas Women's team — he will have the first pick, whether one, whether 12, whether 15. All of those players picked in the draft will go straight to the national team pool," he added.
The PNVF will take care of their salaries, Liao bared: "So papaano 'yung susuwelduhin nila? PNVF ang mamamahala sa sweldo. 'Di na club team."
"Players who are part of the national team pool should report to the national team," he added.
At least six teams are already on board with the proposal, said Liao.
