MANILA -- Another Premier Volleyball League (PVL) squad named a new head coach on Monday afternoon, with Akari formally appointing Tina Salak to the position.
Salak replaces Taka Minowa, who bid goodbye to the squad on Saturday after leading the Chargers to back-to-back podium finishes.

"A respected name in women’s volleyball, Coach Tina will be serving as head coach for the upcoming season," Akari said in a social media post.
"Under her steady guidance, we trust that our Chargers are in good and very capable hands. We can’t wait to see what new heights our Chargers can achieve under her leadership," they added.
Salak concurrently serves as the head coach of her alma mater, Far Eastern University, and has the Lady Tamaraws to the Final 4 in the past two UAAP seasons.
Minowa, 33, steered Akari to a silver medal finish in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference and a bronze medal in the last 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference.
In an emotional post bidding goodbye to the club, he said it had been "an honor to work in my wife’s home country," referring to his spouse, Jaja Santiago (now Sachi Minowa).
He also expressed his confidence that Akari will continue to find success even without him at the helm.
"Even the most successful team in the PVL started with back-to-back podium finishes before finally becoming champions and that’s exactly where this team now stands. The foundation has been laid. The belief is real. And the future is bright," he said.
