MANILA — Tropical depression Maymay is now over the Philippine Sea.
At 4 p.m., it was over the coastal waters of Echague, Isabela.
It now packs winds of 45 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 70 kph and is moving east southeastward at 35 kph.
Wind signal no. 1 remains in effect over the following areas:
• Eastern Kalinga
• Eastern Mountain Province
• Eastern Ifugao
• Southern mainland Cagayan
• Isabela
• Northeastern Nueva Vizcaya
• Quirino
• Northern and central Aurora
The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring significant rainfall over the western section of Luzon and Panay through the weekend.
Heavy to intense rains are expected in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
The threat of serious flooding and landslides remains in many areas, especially those which received significant prior rainfall.
