Typhoon Tino is now over the coastal waters of El Nido, Palawan as of 7 a.m. Wednesday even as a potential super typhoon nears the Philippine area of responsibility weather bureau PAGASA said.
PAGASA said Tino made landfall in El Nido, Palawan at 4:40 a.m. Packing 120 kph maximum winds and gusts of up to 165 kph, it is forecast to re-intensify in the next 12 hours and may reach its peak intensity while over the West Philippine Sea.
Tino is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility Wednesday night or Thursday early morning.
PAGASA weather forecaster Glaiza Escullar said another weather disturbance may enter the Philippine area of responsibility this week as a super typhoon and affect Northern and Central Luzon.
Once it enters the PAR, the system will be locally named “Uwan.”
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 4, indicating significant to severe threat to life and property, is currently hoisted over the northernmost portion of Palawan (El Nido, Taytay, Araceli) including Calamian Islands.
TCWS No. 3 is hoisted over the northern portion of Palawan (Dumaran, San Vicente, Roxas) including Cuyo Islands while TCWS No. 2 is in effect over the southern portion of Occidental Mindoro (Magsaysay, San Jose, Rizal, Calintaan) and the central portion of Palawan (Puerto Princesa City) including Kalayaan Islands.

PAGASA said the surge of the northeast monsoon, shear line and the trough of Tino will also bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas not under Wind Signal:
Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
The weather bureau warned there is a high risk of life-threatening and damaging storm surge with peak heights exceeding 3.0 m within the next 24 hours over the low-lying or exposed coastal communities of Palawan.
Palawan PDRRMO head Jerry Alili said nonstop rains continue to affect El Nido, Taytay, Roxas and San Vicente in the province, with some roads rendered impassable due to floods and debris. There have been no reported casualties in the typhoon but there is infrastructure damage in Cuyo, Agutaya and Magsaysay.
“Di sila makakilos dahil kalsada nila puro debris ng puno, bahay at poste ng kuryente,” he said in a DZMM interview.
