The Department of Education (DepEd) Davao City Schools Division has apologized for the inappropriate behavior displayed by several students in a viral video taken during the visit of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to Davao City on July 28.
A video circulating on social media shows Marcos Jr. boarding the presidential helicopter at Calinan National High School after visiting a government housing project in Davao City.
In the video, several students can be heard heckling the president by shouting curse words and making lewd remarks.
“We deeply regret the incident and assure the public that such conduct is not tolerated and does not reflect the values of respect, discipline, and responsibility that our schools uphold,” the DepEd Davao City said.

DepEd Davao City also said the concerned school administration and the School Child Protection Committee immediately conducted an investigation two days after the incident.
According to the division, four students were identified, and their parents or guardians were invited to a conference to ensure due process and the implementation of appropriate interventions.
“In accordance with DepEd Order No. 006, s. 2026, and existing school policies, the learners concerned are undergoing appropriate disciplinary measures, guidance and counseling, and values formation interventions focusing on responsible behavior, digital citizenship, and respect for others,” the DepEd Davao City said.
Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Claire Castro expressed dismay over the incident, saying it was unfortunate that it happened in a school, raising questions about what the students have learned in school, at home, and from their surroundings.

She also urged the public to help bring back decency to the country.
“Hindi matututo ng tamang pag uugali ang mga kabataan kung ang nakikita nilang iniidolo nila ns lider o ang mga nasa paligid nila ay wala rin modo, palamura at nagdarasal sa kapahamakan ng iba,” she said.
“Let us bring back decency to our country. Huwag natin pabayaan ang ating mga kabataan,” she added.
