In an effort to resolve the dilemma faced by her family and colleagues over the events surrounding the demolition attempt in Ginintuang Lupa, Max (Arci Muñoz) attempted to bribe the family of Gabo (Coco Martin).
Dressed in posh casual clothes, Max managed to convince Betchay (Irma Adlawan) that she indeed was a representative of a non-government organization dedicated to helping underprivileged families like theirs.
However, Gabo was not easily fooled by her act, as he found it hard to believe that she was involved in social work based on her appearance and approach. He confronted her, saying that if she had come to negotiate a settlement with them, she was only wasting her time because they had no intention of making amends with those responsible. Instead, they wanted the person behind Rudy’s (Joey Marquez) shooting to face the consequences of his actions.
Max insisted that she truly represented an NGO and attempted to hand Gabo an envelope of money, but he immediately threw it back at her. Gabo told her that they could not be bought and that they were determined to hold the culprit accountable for what he had done. Mameng (Ces Quesada) then joined the conversation, saying that they would never negotiate with the police and criticize Max for having the audacity to bribe them and attempt to settle the matter.
Gabo then warned Max to leave immediately, saying that she might get caught up in the situation and that he could no longer predict what he might do to her. Disturbed by his warning, Max followed his order and left, taking back the money she had intended to give them.
