Global singing champion Sofronio Vasquez blessed the "Your Face Sounds Familiar" stage with his insane vocal excellence as he transformed into Elvis Presley as a guest celebrity performer.
Sofronio is actually no stranger to "Your Face Sounds Familiar." Fun fact: he used to be one of the show’s music coaches, training celebrity performers off-cam. So coming back to the same stage, but this time as a guest, was such a full-circle moment.
And speaking of coming back, the "Tawag Ng Tanghalan" alum teleported us straight to the peak rock and roll era, as he channeled Elvis in a number so on point it earned a standing ovation from the celebrity performers and judge Ogie Alcasid. Although admittedly nervous, he enjoyed every second of it.
The audience then had fun watching him in a mini dance battle with Jason Dy, who also previously transformed into the King of Rock and Roll in the competition.
Judge Ogie was moved by Sofronio’s musical showcase, since the lyrics of “If I Can Dream” perfectly matched his own journey of never giving up on his dream. “Maraming salamat for being an inspiration to many,” Ogie told him. As Gary Valenciano said, even though he wasn’t part of the competition, he still gave 100% to his assignment.
Meanwhile, Sharon Cuneta was so happy that Sofronio did justice to the icon. But, more than all that, the Megastar thanked him for proudly raising the Filipino flag on the global stage. Global champ behavior!
