For their 14th weekly task called “The PBB Bistro”, the remaining housemates of “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0” got to unleash the kitchen experts in them as they created a variety of dishes to be served to future customers once Kuya’s special diner opens.
Led by task masters Caprice Cayetano and Sofia Pablo, the housemates were divided into six pairs, each tasked with conceptualizing and preparing two distinct dishes. These creations were later presented to Michelin-certified Chef Jorge Mendez, who also happens to be the beloved father of this edition’s “Demure Daughter ng Quezon City”.
The first pair to present their creations were besties Carmelle Collado and Krystal Mejes, who served ginataang kalabasa and tuna crisps. They were followed by the tandem of Heath Jornales and Miguel Vergara, whose playful takes on party favorites—lumpiang shanghai and pasta—immediately amused Chef Jorge.
During the research and development phase, an area where Chef Jorge truly excels, the duo entertained him with their initial concept for their dish cleverly titled “Sha-shang Hi!” Beyond offering tips on elevating their lumpiang shanghai, Chef Jorge suggested replacing their planned adobo sandwich with a creamy adobo pasta, noting that the former did not quite fit the criteria for a main course.
Since neither of them is particularly experienced in the kitchen, HeaGuel was obviously still getting the hang of cooking as they fumbled in their makeshift kitchen situated in the garden area. They may have encountered several problems while preparing their two dishes, yet they still succeeded in the end, with Chef Jorge liking the adobo pasta more than the lumpiang shanghai.
“Naging masaya po ako, Kuya, kasi the best part po of being a chef is not when you cook but if other people enjoy what you cook. Proud po ako at [feeling] fulfilled po ako do’n, Kuya,” Heath conveyed during his and Miguel’s conversation with Big Brother.
