Every time we hear the moniker “Pop Rock Royalty,” Yeng Constantino immediately comes to mind. Now about to enter her 20th year in the industry, she has built a lasting legacy with her iconic songs that have become part of our everyday lives. Whatever emotion we feel, there’s always a perfect Yeng lyric to capture it.

Check out 5 of our ka-Familiars on “Your Face Sounds Familiar” who took the stage as Yeng Constantino---singing her hits, and reminding us why Yeng remains one of the most-loved OPM artists to this day.

Tutti Caringal (YFSF Season 1, 2015) - “Chinito”

Tutti Caringal shifted from his rockstar persona to transform into another rockstar---this time of the opposite gender---as he took on Yeng Constantino. He performed her hit “Chinito,” complete with Yeng’s signature red hair and kimono, just like in the music video.

According to Judge Sharon Cuneta, it was evident that Tutti enjoyed performing the song, “It takes a real man with this level of confidence to pull off something like this. You really were cute.” She applauded Tutti and reminded him that he is a man full of talent.

Coach Jed Madela echoed the same sentiment, adding that whenever Tutti enjoys himself onstage, the audience enjoys watching him too. “Sobrang galing mo ngayong week na ‘to. Nakuha mo ‘yung outfit, buhok ni Yeng,” he noted.

Judge Gary Valenciano admitted he had doubts at first since it was Tutti’s first time performing cross-gender. “Talagang you decided to break the ice… I am proud that you’ve taken on the challenge,” he said.

Tutti placed 7th at the end of the season.

Lie Reposposa (YFSF Season 3, 2021) - “Cool Off”

Lie definitely pulled off Yeng’s 2010s look while performing one of her heartbreak anthems, “Cool Off.” Even more so, when Lie began singing as Yeng, she nailed the vocal techniques and delivered the song with heartfelt emotion.

Judge Gary Valenciano opened the panel’s comments, saying he felt uplifted after her performance, “I was really impressed with what you did today.” He gave Lie two thumbs up. Meanwhile, Coach Jed Madela revealed that he had goosebumps, “Paglabas mo pa lang, you gave us the Yeng vibe, ramdam na ramdam ko ang emosyon,” he commented.

Lastly, Judge Ogie Alcasid highlighted the distinctiveness of Yeng’s vocals that Lie captured perfectly. “It’s so distinctly Yeng, at huli [mo], sakto, mismo,” he said.

Lie placed 6th at the end of the season.

Lyca Gairanod (YFSF Kids Season 1, 2017) - “Time In”

She was definitely the star of the night as Lyca Gairanod’s roster of transformations concluded with her as Yeng Constantino, performing the hit “Time In.” Lyca truly owned the stage, with the song’s lyrics perfectly fitting her for her final “YFSF Kids” performance---complete with full production reminiscent of the music video.

“Bagay na bagay sa’yo yung mga kanta ni Yeng. Ang ganda ng vocals mo,” said Judge Ogie Alcasid. Judge Sharon Cuneta expressed her joy at getting to know Lyca more throughout the competition and hoped that her humility would remain. Meanwhile, Judge Gary Valenciano noted that Lyca’s voice was close to hoarseness, but she still delivered a strong performance.

Lyca placed 7th at the end of the season.

Marco Masa (YFSF Kids Season 2, 2018) - “Paasa (T.A.N.G.A.)”

All dolled up as Yeng, Marco Masa performed her classic “Paasa (T.A.N.G.A),” a song that Yeng famously wrote and composed on the spot in front of an audience. Marco delivered live vocals, capturing Yeng’s nuances and adlibs, all while channeling her signature angst and energy onstage.

Coach Nyoy Volante was very impressed with how Marco puts his heart into every performance, “Marco is one of the hardest working in this [competition.] Wala pa akong time na nakita na hindi niya inaaral ‘yung icon niya.” He added that, having known Yeng and watched her as a performer, he truly saw Yeng in Marco’s rendition.

Judge Sharon Cuneta praised Marco’s visuals, noting that he is charming as himself and remains charming even when transforming into the opposite gender. She emphasized that the judges see and appreciate Marco’s efforts every time he performs. Meanwhile, Judge Ogie Alcasid gave a witty remark, “Ang ga-Yeng (galing) mo.”

Marco placed 8th at the end of the season.

Alexa Ilacad (YFSF Season 4, 2026) - “Chinito”

Our Gen Z total performer Alexa Ilacad charmed the audience with her rendition of “Chinito” as Yeng Constantino. Aside from serving vocals worthy of the Pop-Rock Royalty, Alexa’s dance moves were also on point. Mid-performance, she was surprised by her showbiz crush Enchong Dee---who happened to be Yeng’s love interest in the original music video. Enchong joined Alexa onstage for a brief dance, while Yeng herself happily watched and supported Alexa throughout the number.

After the performance, Enchong was asked about his thoughts. He shared that every time he talks with Alexa about “YFSF,” he tells her, “Ikaw yung nag-aangat ng level ng performance. So biased ako… biased ako kay Alexa.”

Later on, Yeng herself joined them onstage and praised Alexa, “Napakahusay [ni Alexa], napakaganda. Sobrang kopyang-kopya… ang galing mo!” She also noted how Alexa perfectly captured even her vocal adlibs and techniques. The fun moment ended with Alexa and Yeng singing a duet of “Chinito,” with Enchong dancing along.

Judge Sharon Cuneta was all smiles for Alexa, “Nakaka-amaze, kasi nung unang note pa lang ni Alexa napa-‘ang galing’ [kami].” She added that Alexa still managed to surprise them every week and consistently followed the coaches’ instructions.

Judge Ogie Alcasid described Yeng as a “consummate artist,” highlighting her gift as a storyteller. For Alexa’s performance, he noted how she was able to copy Yeng’s vocal inflections. Coach Nyoy Volante emphasized that Alexa did not waste her opportunity to showcase her talent, especially in front of Yeng and Enchong, “Every time you do something, you give your hundred percent talaga.” He added that the judges could clearly see the effort Alexa poured into her performance.

Lastly, Coach Klarisse De Guzman expressed her admiration, “Ginulat mo ako… I think eto na ‘yung favorite [performance] ko ngayon… Kung pipikit lang ako kanina, iisipin ko talaga si Yeng yung kumakanta.” She also pointed out that Alexa was able to sing like Yeng, who has a distinct vocal quality.

As one of the biggest hitmakers in the Philippine music industry, Yeng Constantino’s music will always live on. Her relatable songs will surely be appreciated by the following generations to come---and we can’t wait to hear more from her.
