During their one-on-one conversation, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) told Tanggol (Coco Martin) that his victory would definitely be sweeter if he and his father, Ramon (Christopher de Leon), and grandfather, Don Julio (Tomm Abuel), would only make amends.
Tanggol clarified that he actually doesn’t resent them, yet they can never compel him to do whatever they want him to do as soon as he gets elected as mayor—to support their family’s businesses, which include illegal drug trade. He told Marites that he would never ever tolerate it, nor is he willing to continue it, to which she strongly agreed since she knew it’s really wrong.
However, Marites couldn’t help but get worried, for she’s certain that Ramon will not allow Tanggol to easily do whatever he pleases, especially if it is going to be against him and Don Julio. Tanggol may not be sure what he’ll do about it, but what he’s certain of is that he will never disappoint the people of Manila, especially the ones who put their trust in him.
Since she’s afraid that another altercation might erupt between them, Marites advised her son to try talking it out with his father because he might listen to him. It may not be clear if he will heed her advice, but he vows to do everything that may help him change their minds.
Tanggol then overheard the conversation that Ramon had with their supplier over the phone with regard to their transaction that’s going to happen the following day—and based on his reaction and his exchange of looks with his friends, they are keen to stop it.
