As the two groups come close to each other, Don Gustavo (Dante Rivero) breaks the ice by expressing how thankful he is to see Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) again after their first-ever encounter at the Guerrero mansion several days ago.
He then speaks to Tanggol, implying how delighted he is to find out that he’s actually his grandson and how he felt at ease towards him just in the very first moment that he met him. Thus, he’s definitely whoever between him and Miguelito (Jake Cuenca) will win as the next mayor of the City of Manila.
Don Gustavo caresses him in front of everyone who’s watching their interaction, but that has made Tanggol uncomfortable, so he removes the old man’s hand from his face and strongly insists that he does not acknowledge any kind of affinity that they have.
Tanggol then goes on to tell Don Gustavo that he’ll never forgive the Guerreros for killing his younger brother, David (McCoy de Leon), to which Miguelito (Jake Cuenca)—who's the culprit—suddenly reacts. He tells Tanggol to hold his tongue and not to disrespect Don Gustavo in public, to which the latter responds by saying that it’s them who are actually ungracious because of what they’ve done in Manila ever since their family has led the city.
As Don Gustavo hopes that Tanggol will eventually accept that he’s indeed a Guerrero, Don Julio (Tommy Abuel) chimes in, sparking an intense argument between the two of them. It was revealed that they used to be best friends ever since they were young boys, but greed for power and money destroyed their once indestructible bond, not to mention that Don Julio took advantage of Don Gustavo’s wife, Doña Pilar (Celia Rodriguez).
A heated exchange then ensues between the families as Tanggol lambasts the Guerreros for not being able to fulfill their sworn duties and promises to the people who have chosen to trust them to lead their city.
