After a week of MagPASKOsikat anniversary surprises, "It's Showtime" closed its 16th birthday celebration with AWAAARD, a 'dogshow' awarding ceremony that looked back on the hosts' most iconic, hilarious, and chaotic moments through the years.
Among the funniest recognitions were the “Ha? Hakdog Award” shared by Anne Curtis and Jhong Hilario for their unforgettable 'bulol' spiels, the “Sablay Supremacy Award” received by Vhong Navarro for his 'palpak' reveal on "Rampanalo segment, and the "Dress in Peace Award" earned by Jugs Jugueta for his apple net OOTD. Kim Chiu and Ryan Bang were honored with the “Natutulog Ba Ang Joke Award” for their 'waley' punchlines, while Jackie Gonzaga and Ogie Alcasid bagged the “G na G Alajar Award” for being 'game na game sa bardagulan' in the name of comedy.
Vice Ganda’s fierce transformation landed her the “Glow Up Award,” and she also shared the emotional “Cry ‘Yan Cayabyab Award” with Ion Perez and Ryan for their tearjerking on-air moments. To top it all off, Vice, Vhong, and Jhong were recognized with the 'coveted' "Physical Hosting Award"—and we all know why.
The AWAAARD! episode was packed with punchlines and all the funny award titles you could think of, but truth is, the hosts were actually grateful for the recognition. Every blooper clip reminded them of how much the show, and the madlang people watching it, actually mean to them.
Jhong, who shared the "Ha? Hakdog Award" with Anne, got a little sentimental when asked how he felt after watching all those 'kulitan' scenes again and receiving his plaque. "Nag-uumapaw na pasasalamat," he said. "Dahil minsan 'yung mga imperfections ng ‘It's Showtime’ hosts ay nakakapagpasaya pala sa madlang people natin." You could tell they all had fun reliving the chaos!
As for Ogie, the "G na G Alajar Award" is an "honor" he would proudly own, "Proud ako kasi totoo naman na G na G ako kahit natatakot ako sa gagawin." Thanks to the AWAAARD show, he was reminded all over again of just how much of a blessing "It’s Showtime" is in his life. "Showtime is a blessing to me," he mused. "Maganda na na-open ang eyes ko sa samahan ng mga kaibigan ko dito, at the same time nakilala ko ang madlang people dahil ang ‘Showtime’ ay tungkol sa madlang people."
"Dapat ba ma-offend ako?" joked Vhong, who receive the "Sablay Supremacy Award." He revealed that there were more awards in the lineup, but they ran out of time because they were all having way too much fun. "Pero ang pinakaimportante dito ay napasaya natin ang madlang people sa mga kalokohan naming awards," he said. "Mas gagalingan pa namin. Maraming salamat sa inyong pagmamahal at pagsuporta sa amin."
If this is how "It’s Showtime" turns 16, we can’t wait to see what kind of 'kakulitan' their 17th (and beyond) will bring! More bloopers for more AWAAARDs? We’re so ready!
Catch the good vibes from "It's Showtime," Monday to Satuday, 12 NN on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), A2Z, GMA 7, and iWant.
