‘Under A Piaya Moon’, ‘Pushcart Tales’ win big at Cinepanalo Film Festival

Sigrid Andrea Bernardo’s drama comedy “Pushcart Tales” and Kurt Soberano’s Inspirational drama movie “Under A Piaya Moon” were among the big winners at the first Cinepanalo Film Festival awards night in Gateway Mall on Saturday.

(UPDATED) The first Cinepanalo Film Festival organized by Puregold held its awards night Saturday at the  Gateway Cinema in Cubao, Quezon City.

The movie about six individuals stuck inside a grocery store when natural disasters struck entitled 'Pushcart Tales' dominated the awards in the full length feature category. 

Directed by Sigrid Bernardo, it bagged the Best Director award. Her actors Shamaine Buencamino and Carlos Siguion-Reyna both got major acting awards.

'Under A Piaya Moon', an Ilonggo movie about a young man who aspires to continue the family legacy by winning an inter-city pastry competition with the help of his feuding grandfather and grandmother, received the Best Full Length Feature Film award together with a handful of technical awards including Best Editing, Cinematography and Production Design, plus Best Supporting Actor for Joel Torre.

'Piaya' and 'Pushcart' both received six awards.

In the short film category, 'Last Shift' bagged the Best Short Film award including Best Actor and Supporting Actor awards for their two lead actors - Vince Macapobre and Jules Azuala.
