MANILA — Savi Davison can finally call herself a Premier Volleyball League (PVL) champion.
The triumph was almost two years in the making, as the Fil-Canadian star spiker and her team, the PLDT High Speed Hitters, endured a series of "almosts."
PLDT has always ended up in the fourth or fifth places since the 2023 First All-Filipino Conference—even after Davison joined during the 2023 Second All-Filipino contest.
But now, Davison has proven that she can also reach the top, matching the accomplishment of Fil-Foreign players MJ Phillips and Brooke Van Sickle, who became champions with Petro Gazz.

The High Speed Hitters' scoring machine chalked up a game-high 23 points which all came from attacks, to go with nine excellent receptions in the one-game PVL on Tour final against Chery Tiggo, 25-17, 25-17, 19-25, 24-26, 15-8, on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Asked whether it was a long overdue finals appearance, Davison previously told ABS-CBN News that she's taking it step-by-step—it's a process she had to go through along with the team.
She echoed this sentiment during the championship presser, affirming her captain, Kath Arado.
"Like Kath [Arado] said, it was definitely a process. Even for me, I know they've been part of PLDT for longer than I have, but I feel like as well, we started from the bottom. Not from the bottom, but felt like we couldn't catch a break. [From] Semis, quarters, whatever it was," Davison said.
"I've said this after semis too, but it just makes it feel so much better when you had to fight for it. So, I'm glad that we were able to show up tonight and do what we had to do."

Davison also debunked the assertion that PLDT was all about her, saying that the team was already built long before she joined the team.
"PLDT was here way before I got here. I'm just glad to be in the position where I can contribute. I wasn't added to the team to turn some switch or you know, and people ask me all the time 'why PLDT?' But I can't give any—I can't say anything else but I'm so glad and it's either PLDT or nothing for me," Davison said.
"I'm just glad to find a family here. I'm glad to call these people my support and receive love and give love to them. I'm just glad I was with this group. Like you said, I mean, I couldn't imagine this with any other group, any other teammates, coaches, supporting staff. I'm just happy to be a part of it."
