Choco Mucho turns back Galeries Tower for first win in PVL on Tour

Headed by Isa Molde, the crowd darlings turned back the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-19, 13-25, 25-22, 25-20, in their Saturday afternoon faceoff at the at the Batangas City Sports Center

The Flying Titans were missing the services of Sisi Rondina and Marsa Alba — with both players serving their Alas Pilipinas duties — but Molde rose to the occasion, putting up 20 points on 19 attacks and a block.

Also stepping up was Des Cheng who finished with 13 markers on 12 attacks and an ace, while Deanna Wong tossed all but two of Choco Mucho’s 17 excellent sets.

On the other hand, 2025 Rookie Draft 2nd overall pick Jean Asis made noise in her PVL debut, putting up a team-high 16 points on 13 attacks, two blocks, and an ace.

She also powered the Highrisers’ second set surge that allowed them to tie the contest, 1-1, but Molde and Cheng took charge for the Flying Titans in the next two frames to seal the victory.

Jewel Encarnacion backstopped Asis with 13 points, while Ysabel Jimenez followed with 12.

The Highrisers even outscored their counterparts in both the setting (33-17) and reception (34-22) departments, but the Flying Titans’ 57-51 advantage in attacks points proved to be all they needed to get the win.

Choco Mucho will gun for its second straight win on Sunday against the Nxled Chameleons at 6:30 p.m., while Galeries Tower is set to battle the Petro Gazz Angels at 4:00 p.m.

Both games are to be held at the same venue.
