PASSI CITY – Zus Coffee veteran Jov Gonzaga admitted Saturday that she could be retiring "soon."
Gonzaga, 33, who's currently embracing a leadership role with the young Zus Coffee squad, shared that she's thinking about putting a period on her decorated volleyball career.
One of the reasons is because of her body's ability to keep up, admitting that she's powering through right now by passion for the sport.
"In time, soon. Nakikita ko na sarili ko by next year or next two years, kasi do'n na ako sa point na 'yon, e. Kasi nararamdaman ko na rin coming from an injury, since ten years old naglalaro na ako," Gonzaga explained.
"So wear and tear na talaga 'yung nararamdaman ng katawan ko. More on passion na lang talaga nagdadala sa 'kin, 'yung parang 'di ko pa kayang bitawan. Pero 'yon, we'll see, we'll see. Ayoko naman magsalita nang tapos," she went on.
The pride of Ilonggos and known for her moniker "Bionic Ilongga" played in front of her "kababayans" at the City of Passi Arena, but the Thunderbelles absorbed a loss, 25-20, 25-16, 25-15, against the PLDT High Speed Hitters to end the preliminary round of the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

Gonzaga said she's dedicating her remaining years in helping flourish the younger players.
"Nasa point na rin ako ng career na malapit-lapit na ring um-exit sa career ko. Pero as much as possible, 'yung mga natitirang years ko, gusto ko namang makatulong, makaambag, kung ano man 'yung ma-impart ko sa mga bata lalo na sa team ko ngayon, Zus [Coffee]," said the 5-foot-8 spiker said.

Gonzaga is a former Shakey's V-League Conference Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Attacker, and Finals MVP, and a former national team captain.
