Filipina tennis star Alex Eala will be making her long-awaited US Open main draw debut against Denmark's Clara Tauson in the opening round of the year's final Grand Slam.
Tauson, currently ranked World No. 15, began playing tennis at the age of six and has steadily risen as one of Denmark's top players.
The 22-year-old Tauson has a win-loss record of 33-17 in 2025. She reached the third round of the US Open in 2021, 2023, and 2024.
Eala, meanwhile, sits at World No. 70 with a 26-18 record this season.
The 20-year-old enters New York on a historic milestone, as this marks her first-ever appearance in the US Open main draw.
It will also be the first career meeting between Eala and Tauson.
Eala's breakthrough run earlier this year at the Miami Open where she stunned higher-ranked opponents en route to a career-best showing solidified her rise on the WTA Tour.
