NLEX stretched its unbeaten run to four games in Group A, with Schonny Winston leading the way with 24 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
"Any time you play a team like San Miguel, it’s always a great test for a team," said Road Warriors head coach Jimmy Alapag after they fended off a 25-point collapse as Robert Bolick and Dequan Jones helped restore order down the stretch.
”But our poise in the second-half was great for a young team like us,” he added.
Jones finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks, while Bolick flirted with a triple-double, tallying 14 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds.
On the other hand, George King had 31 points and eight rebounds but also committed nine turnovers, while Don Trollano spearheaded the Beermen's fourth-quarter rally with 16 points.
However, San Miguel's comeback fell short as NLEX's dominant start proved too much to overcome, and the Beermen eventually suffered their first loss in four outings.
To add to their woes, June Mar Fajardo and CJ Perez both suffered apparent injuries, with the latter exiting the contest with still four minutes remaining in the first half.
