MANILA -- Titan Ultra registered only its second win of the PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup after fending off Macau, 132-128, Tuesday evening at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Giant Risers led virtually all the way but had to weather a late rally by the Giant Pandas to improve to 2-5 in the conference.
Titan import Tirrell Brown II scored 16 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter to keep the Giant Risers in control. He also had 10 rebounds and seven assists in a 37-minute stint.
The Giant Risers led by as many as 29 points, 66-37, but Macau trimmed the deficit to eight points, 124-116, with still nearly five minutes to go.
Brown and Macau import De'Vondre Perry alternated big shots from there, with a Perry triple making it a six-point game with still 1:27 to play, 130-124.
The Giant Pandas could get no closer, however, and a Brown jumper with 12 seconds left ended their hopes of a comeback.
Perry finished with 45 points and 14 boards, while Ramon Cao added 24 markers in the loss.
The result snapped a two-game winning streak for Macau, which dropped to 2-5 in Group A of the competition.
Joshua Munzon added 18 points and Roi Sumang scored 14 for the Giant Risers.
This was the second meeting between the two teams in the elimination round. Macau had beaten the Giant Risers, 132-126, when they first played.
