MANILA — Strong Group-Pilipinas has acquired the services of former NBA standout Boban Marjanović, as the squad seeks a third straight title in the William Jones Cup.
SGA announced the development Friday.
Marjanović is a former center in the NBA, playing with the San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets.
The William Jones Cup will run from August 8 to 23 at the New Taipei City Xinzhuang Gymnasium, with the Filipino squad — now backstopped by the 7-foot-4 Serbian veteran — will aim for a rare three-peat.
SGA is drawn in Group A, where they will face Chinese Taipei Blue, Korea, and Japan in the preliminary round.
