PBA Images.MANILA — The Titan Ultra Giant Risers finally broke into the win column in the PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup after defeating TNT Tropang 5G, 103-87, on Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Tirrell Brown starred with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists as Titan Ultra snapped its three-game losing streak in Group A while handing TNT its first loss in two games.
”We really needed to win this game, so I just gave it my all,” said Brown. “We made it a point to focus on defense, so I think we did that very well.”
Jerrick Balanza, Joshua Munzon, and Bryan Sajonia each scored 13 points, while Aries Dionisio added 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc for the Giant Risers, who rode a dominant second quarter to build a lead that grew to as many as 22 points.
Fran Yu orchestrated the offense with 11 assists and five points without committing a turnover as Roi Sumang and Pao Javillonar chipped in nine points apiece.
For TNT, Darius Days finished with 21 points and six rebounds, but it was not enough as the Tropang 5G failed to sustain their strong start.
To make matters worse for TNT, head coach Chot Reyes was ejected early in the fourth quarter after being assessed two technical fouls.
