MANILA — Terrafirma rallied past Titan Ultra, 113-100, to score its first win in the PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup on Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Top rookie Geo Chiu tallied a huge double-double of 19 points and 23 rebounds, as the Dyip got the better of import-less Giant Risers.
Import Justin Strings also made the most out of it, registering 25 points although on 9-of-26 clip, to go with 16 rebounds, while JM Bravo added a near double-double of 15 markers and nine rebounds, as Didat Hanapi chipped in 14 points as well as seven rebounds.
Clinging to an 89-87 lead with eight minutes to play, the Dyip pulled away behind timely baskets from Bravo, Strings and Chiu, stretching the margin to 98-91.
Hanapi eventually made it a double-digit cushion after two straight layups late for a 107-94 lead just before the last two minutes -- and never looked back.
On the other hand, the all-Filipino Titan Ultra was led by Aris Dionisio, who had 21 points and nine rebounds, as their team dropped to 0-1 in Group A. Controversial shooting guard John Amores officially made his PBA comeback as he entered the ballgame at the 5:35 mark of the third frame.
Terrafirma looks for another win against NLEX on Sunday, while Titan Ultra hopes to enter the win column on the same game date against Converge.
