MANILA — Quentin Millora-Brown shared a promising development on his eligibility to play for Gilas Pilipinas as a local.

Despite being classified as a naturalized player as of present, the former University of the Philippines star said there is an appeal in the works for him to be considered as a local.

"Right now, I'm classified as naturalized. There's an appeal in the works, so we'll see what happens," said the one-time UAAP Champion who was in attendance at the 18th FilOil Preseason Cup Finals on Sunday.

According to the big man, all he needs are documents including a Philippine passport that he obtained before turning 16 -- which is why he is confident that he can eventually be re-classified as a local.

"Obviously, I'm not a lawyer, so I can't really speak on all the details," said QMB, who turns 25 in August, and was born to Filipina Rosette Millora. "But I've been told that we have a pretty strong position to get a local status."

For now, Millora-Brown's focus is on his stint with the Macau Black Bears which Gilas will be facing tonight, 7:30 p.m., at the Araneta Coliseum, ahead of the Nationals' trip to Jeddah for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup.

"It's a great opportunity to play against Gilas," he said. "Right now, that's what I can do."

QMB is also looking to play professional hoops in Europe, and a potential return to the Black Bears is also possible after his initial contract with them expires.
