POC MediaMANILA — The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has unveiled the training pool for the Philippine Women’s National Football Team ahead of its month-long camp in Manila, Balesin Island, and Perth this February.
The camp serves as the Filipinas’ buildup for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia, and head coach Mark Torcaso emphasized that their focus is on preparing the squad for tougher challenges following their gold-medal finish in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.
“The players understand that we’re obviously going to a competition that is much tougher than the SEA Games,” he said.
“Now it’s about lifting our intensity, our quality, our fitness levels, and our speed to another level, and ultimately giving ourselves the opportunity to qualify for another World Cup,” added Torcaso, who will be coaching in his first Asian Cup.
Training will run throughout February, with sessions at the Mall of Asia Sky Pitch and Rizal Memorial Stadium from February 1 to 5, and February 17 to 22. The team will then hold a closed camp in Balesin Island, Quezon, from February 6 to 15, before heading to Perth from February 24 to 28.
The Filipinas face a daunting task in Group A, where they are bracketed with host and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup semifinalist Australia, 2022 Asian Cup runner-up South Korea, and 2022 CAFA Women’s Championship runner-up Iran.
They open their campaign against Australia on March 1 at Perth Stadium (5 p.m. PH time), before taking on South Korea on March 5 (11 a.m. PH time) and Iran on March 8 (5 p.m. PH time) both at the Gold Coast Stadium.
After the training camps, 26 players will be named to the final Asian Cup roster.
