Move over, Papa P—no one's got a longer "pila" of leading ladies than Long Mejia.
He may not have Piolo Pascual's jawline, James Reid's dreamy eyes, or Gerald Anderson's abs. But who needs all that when you've got killer sense of humor and enough confidence to rival the biggest leading men?
Long's brand of comedy has always been about using his punchlines as his wingman and acting like he’s the ultimate heartthrob, casting himself in love teams that exist only in his own imagination… and to everyone's entertainment, just like the hilarious "ships" he's formed on "Kapamilya Deal Or No Deal."
Long-Asia
First up, his 'ship' with Lucky Star Asia Yoona which works so well as Asia gamely plays along his humor. In one episode, Long was in GGSS (Gwapong Gwapo sa Sarili) mode as he claimed that Asia begged for his phone number. Asia then fake-cried while asking for clarity because she was jealous over Long and Mommy Ganda's chemistry backstage. Long replied, "Iba pa rin 'yung dating talaga ng native, eh!" referring to Mommy Ganda's charisma.
But when it was Asia's turn to play, he made sure to send her off with a good luck message. "Kung sakaling makuha mo 'yung one million, may pansimula na tayo para sa buhay natin," he told Asia, who called him her "happy ending” in return.
There was also an episode where Long and Asia were in a rush to finish taping early because they supposedly had a coffee date they couldn't postpone. "Kasi ililibing na 'yung patay bukas, eh!" quipped Long. IYKYK.
Long-Mommy Ganda
Can you really blame Asia for getting "jealous" when Long obviously has a soft spot for Mommy Ganda too? In one episode, Luis Manzano noticed Long’s Gen Z-ish styling, which Long explained, "Iba dating talaga ni Mommy Ganda. 'Pag nakikita ko, para akong nagmumurang kamias."
This ship even went as far as Long telling Mommy Ganda's son, Lester, "Mag-aral ka nang tawagin akong Papa Long!"
Long-Jenny
Long moves like he's God's gift to women as he always finds ways to charm them in any kind of situation. Case in point: when Jenny Miller shared that becoming a mother is still on her bucket list, Long eagerly volunteered to do his part, saying, "Gusto ko lang naman makatulong sa kanya, eh."
Long-Christine
Of all the women he's being linked to, Christine Samson may have the strongest case for an actual movie team-up as she openly requested to do a rom-com with him—"kung papayag si Kuya Long." But, heartthrobs like Long play hard to get too, "Itatanong ko sa manager ko 'yan! Aalisin natin 'yung kissing scene, alam mo naman pa-wholesome ako, eh."
Long-Negi
Among all of Long's love teams, the one with Negi has truly stood the test of time. After working together on "Kapamilya Deal or No Deal" for several seasons, they've become so close that their banter now leads to... kiss scenes.
In one episode, Long granted the audience's persistent request for him and Negi to share a kiss, so he gave her a peck on the cheek. A surprised Negi hilariously collapsed in despair while crying, "Ang dumi dumi ko!"
But in another episode, the tables turned when Negi initiated the kiss, which she claimed would bring good luck to her game. Long was still busy explaining the history of their friendship when Negi stopped him from talking by kissing him on the lips. Now who's speechless?
Long- Crisha
Ladies, you might want to fall in line because the "pila" to Long's heart is getting longer and it looks like Crisha Uy is currently at the front of the queue—because 'wdym' they were spotted on a date and there were actual photo receipts?!
After those "date" photos made the rounds, Long explained what happened, or rather, how Crisha chased him for that dinner, "Kahapon, uwian na, paglabas ko ng kotse may nakaharang. Pagbukas ko, si Crisha. Sabi, 'I-invite kita sanang mag-dinner.' Ayaw ko, meron akong trabaho. Eh, kaysa maglupasay 'yan at mag-iiyak sa harapan ng ABS-CBN, eskandalo pa, pinagbigyan ko na."
Crisha explained that she just wanted to experience dating a comedian, and rumor has it that she's hoping for a follow-up date. But because every heartthrob with such ‘pogi problems’ can play a little 'pakipot,' Long called her out for being too transparent about their status. "Ikaw naman wala ka nang inilihim," he told Crisha. "Baka hindi natin ituloy 'yan, eh kung mainis ako?"
The only downside to crushing on someone 'dangerously handsome' like Long is that the competition never ends—you never know who he'll "fall in love" with next.
