The internet loves giving everyday vocabulary a whole new personality. This year, one of the most trending words has to be "pitik," which is just an ordinary Filipino term that can mean flicking something with your finger, or the throbbing of a pulse, or snapping a photo. Then one content creator owned the slang by using "pitik" to describe his snappy moves.
Meet Ian Mark Kamangkang a.k.a. Pitik Queen!
He rose to fame as the online personality netizens credit for popularizing the viral "Hawak Mo Ang Beat" dance craze, thanks to his signature "pitik with soft moves." The South Cotabato native recently chatted with fellow BisDak Melai Cantiveros on the Bisaya talk show "Kuan On One," where he opened up about his life behind the screen.
Pitik Queen also had a blast with Melai in the "Dakong Problema" (Big Problem) segment, where they faced off in a "What's In The Box?" game with a twist. They must guess the item inside the box at the same time, and whoever gets the correct answer first decides how many "pitik moves" the losing player has to perform as a consequence.
The first round was a "dakong" struggle as both Pitik Queen and Melai got stumped by the mystery item, which they could 'feel' was the sponge (loofah) used to scrub and exfoliate the skin in the shower, but they just couldn't remember the actual name for it. Since neither got the answer right, both did "two pitik moves."
And then Melai was so scared to touch the second mystery item, thinking it was a real mouse, only to find out it was just a stuffed toy. She lost the round and begged Pitik Queen, "Isa lang, please," for her punishment, but for the sake of fun, he challenged her to do "tatlong half pitik" instead.
Pitik Queen did even better in the third and final round where he identified the "noodles" inside the box real fast. Since it was the finale, he also leveled up the consequence to "tatlong long pitik." Our Kuantie Melai felt dizzy after all those pitik moves!
