Kuantie Melai Cantiveros-Francisco reunited with Paul Jake Castillo in the June 30 episode of “Kuan on One.” One of the show's most requested guests, Paul Jake joined Melai in reliving their “Pinoy Big Brother Double Up” journey in 2010 and reflecting on the life that unfolded after their big wins.

Now devoted and loving partners, the two took on the "Dakong Problema" challenge titled "Sabi ni Misis, Sabi ni Mister." Drawing random scenarios from a bowl, Melai and Paul Jake shared candid insights from their perspectives as husband and wife, offering honest and relatable takes on married life.

The first topic leaned toward marriage proposals. Melai and Paul Jake shared their thoughts on asking permission from parents before proposing. Melai quickly agreed, saying, “Natural, nanay ako. Hindi pwedeng hindi ka magpapaalam sa akin.” She added that seeking a parent’s blessing was a symbol of respect and that their guidance played a vital role in a relationship.

Paul Jake echoed Melai’s sentiments. “Dapat magpaalam ka talaga, kailangan magbigay ng respeto sa mga magulang,” he emphasized. He then recalled the time he asked the relatives of his wife, Kaye Abad, for their approval. He shared that he spoke to her family the day before his proposal, and they were happy for Kaye, as they had long been waiting for her to settle down.

Shifting to the issue of budgeting, Melai dismissed the idea that a Bisaya partner is more of a cheapskate than their spouse. Paul Jake admitted that he and Kaye both considered themselves thrifty. Melai, however, believed that a Bisaya wife was far from stingy, saying, “Kapag Bisaya ka, magbibigay ka talaga. Gusto ng Bisaya na palaging masaya.” She added that they would even go as far as borrowing money just to provide for her family.

Melai then asked Paul Jake if he believed that even when a partner has her own money, a husband should still give financial support. Paul Jake did not oppose this, stressing that support was essential in a relationship. “Kailangan suportahan mo ang asawa mo dahil ‘yun ang tamang gawin,” he said.

The conversation moved on to living arrangements as a married couple, suggesting that the wife should agree to and follow her husband to wherever they would live. Melai responded, “Kung saan ka niya dadalhin, doon ka dapat. Tama pa rin naman, pero mas maganda kung mag-meet halfway kayo.” She noted that he should also listen to his spouse’s wants and needs.

Paul Jake shared the same thoughts as Melai, saying, “Ang head of the family ay ang lalaki. Siya dapat ang gagawa ng desisyon.” He added that it still depended on the situation and the need to compromise. Melai admired his mindset, saying she was glad that they both aligned in their views.

For the final round, Paul Jake and Melai tackled the scenario of a father being more protective of his children, while the mother focuses more on verbal discipline. Paul Jake approved wholeheartedly, saying, “Kami ang magpoprotekta sa buong pamilya namin. Dapat alpha ka sa pamilya ninyo.”

Sharing the same view, Melai said, “Ang lalaki talaga ang magsisilbing proteksyon.” She pointed out that it was the man's responsibility to protect his family, as they are generally physically stronger than their wives. Based on her own experience as a parent, she explained that this was the same setup in their household. Paul Jake agreed with her perspective as they ended the discussion.
