Kuantie Melai Cantiveros-Francisco’s Bisaya talk show “Kuan on One” is finally back for its fifth season. For its much-awaited return, she is joined by actress and fellow Bisdak beauty Ellen Adarna, who opened up about her stories of love, family, and relationships that many can relate to.
If there’s one thing audiences love about Ellen, it’s her unfiltered honesty and authentic personality. Whether in interviews or on social media, she never shies away from answering questions thrown her way, and over the years, audiences have come to know her as both fierce and genuine.
That’s why, in “Kuan on One’s” ‘Dakong Problema’ segment titled “Ellen Asks,” the tables are turned as Ellen comes up with her own questions in different scenarios. Joining her is Kuantie Melai, who wittily dubbed their segment “Els and Mels Ask.”
Ellen kicked things off with a prompt about her ex—someone she is still on good terms with. After a pause, she playfully asked, “Nakatulog ka na ba?,” sending the studio into fits of laughter. Melai followed with a sharper edge, responding to a question about someone who broke her trust with, “Nakarma ka na ngayon?”—even raising her eyebrow to emphasize the emotion behind her words.
The banter continued as Ellen asked a loyal friend who never left her side. While many expected something heartfelt, she stayed true to her “kalog” humor and said, “Why are you still here?,” drawing laughs from the studio. Melai, amused, quickly agreed with her. Next, when Melai was challenged to ask something to herself, she turned the moment into comedy gold, asking, “Maganda ka?” before adding, “Wag ka nang sumagot.”
What would Ellen possibly ask a friend who ghosted her worse than an ex? She admitted that none of her best friends have ever silently cut her off, as she remains close with all of them. Melai then gave her another prompt: “Anong tanong mo sa ex mong naging biggest lesson mo sa love?” Ellen didn’t hold back, boldly replying, “Anong nasa isip mo nung time na ’yon?” Melai clearly liked her answer and even exchanged high-fives with her.
A love-related scenario was posed to Melai, asking what she would like to know from someone who wasted the romantic love she gave. She confidently replied, “Nasaan ka na ngayon?” The spotlight then shifted to Ellen, who was asked, “Anong tanong mo sa pinaka-plastic na taong nakilala mo?” She answered without hesitation, “Bakit ka pa isinilang?”
Later on, Melai turned to actress Kristine Hermosa when she was dared to ask a question to someone she considers her idol. “Pa-share naman ng beauty?” she said, praising Kristine’s stunning looks.
Lastly, Ellen wrapped things up with a self-directed question. Drawing inspiration from Fool’s Garden’s “Lemon Tree,” she sang the lines, “I wonder how, I wonder why…” before adding, “How, Lord, how? Paano ko lalagpasan ’to?” ending the segment on a light yet introspective note.
