Known as one of the top stand-up comedians in the country at present, Red Ollero is absolutely no stranger to making people laugh. However, it seemed that the seasoned comic found it difficult to crack jokes as he faced the pressure of being the lucky star player during the May 31 episode of “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal.”
Red appeared ready for the challenge, showing little surprise when host Luis Manzano officially declared him the celebrity player of the night after the lucky wheel stopped at number 16, which had been the briefcase assigned to him.
When asked what he would do with the P1 million jackpot if he won, Red initially joked that he would tell his fiancée he had only won P300,000. But on a more serious note, he revealed that he plans to put the money toward their wedding fund.
Unlike previous celebrity players who chose to keep their assigned briefcases, Red decided to swap his briefcase with Arizona Brandy’s number 13.
The game got off to a rough start when Red immediately eliminated ₱500,000 and ₱125,000 in the first round. Frustration further rose in the second round when it was revealed that his original briefcase contained ₱250,000, leaving him quite regretful of his decision. Even so, the Banker—whom he had asked through Luis to become a principal sponsor at his upcoming wedding—still offered him ₱52,000 as a supposed initial cash gift for him and his bride-to-be.
Banker continued to increase the offer in the third round despite Red getting rid of P150,000, only to drop it in the fourth round after taking P100,000 off the money board. With the P1 million jackpot standing as the last remaining high-value amount, the tension further intensified in the succeeding rounds. Fortunately, Lady Luck appeared to stay on Red’s side as he continued opening briefcases containing low amounts.
As Banker’s offer climbed to P233,000 in the seventh round, the stand-up comedian decided to accept it out of fear that he would mistakenly open the briefcase that bore the P1 million jackpot. However, he apparently said “DEAL” quite early, as the next briefcase he opened only contained P400, causing Banker’s offer to soar to P568,000—much to Red's and everyone else's regret.
Just as everybody was already preparing for a disappointing ending, the atmosphere instantly shifted to relief and celebration after Luis opened Red’s chosen briefcase and revealed that it contained only P200. The coveted P1 million jackpot was actually hidden inside briefcase number 18, held by content creator Asia Yoona.
Although the amount inside his original briefcase was significantly higher, Red still managed to beat Banker, who paid a hefty sum to purchase a briefcase that ultimately contained just P200.
