In Week 1, the 20 housemates confronted their “multo” in life. Lella opened up about joining “PBB Collab 2.0” as her first real step out of her comfort zone and getting to know herself better as she admittedly feels a little lost sometimes, especially with the pressure and expectations tied to her family’s public life.
Adding to her self-doubt and overthinking was watching her sister, Magui Ford, earn a diploma abroad, which Lella had always wanted for herself, too. Sometimes she feels like she's the only one in the family being left behind. So, she considered "PBB" as the first step toward accomplishments that would finally bear her own imprint.
In the same sharing session, Joaquin talked about his "multo" related to his family's relationship. Raised by a single mom, Joaquin admitted that growing up, he thought everything was perfectly fine between his parents who remained friends after their separation. But when the pandemic happened, he started to notice the cracks, the things that didn’t feel as okay as he once believed.
For a long time, he resented his father, filmmaker Neil Arce, feeling that his presence was mostly financial rather than emotional. Ironically, entering showbiz became the bridge. For the first time, he felt his dad’s support as a mentor guiding him through the ropes of the industry. While Joaquin admitted he wanted the opportunity for himself, he chose to give his vote to Lella, who, of course, appreciated the selfless move.
Ironically, the first Big Jump Challenge later placed them on opposite sides. The task required them to transfer blocks using a stick while walking across narrow lanes marked with positive and negative points. Lella finished with -212 points, while Joaquin ended with -336. But even as opponents, Lella could be heard guiding Joaquin on how to balance the block more steadily. A healthy rivalry doesn't cancel out friendship, right? Compete hard, care harder.
For Lella’s birthday, Joaquin decided to cook her omurice—or at least, that was the plan. What was supposed to be Japanese fried rice wrapped in a neat omelet hilariously turned into just fried rice and scrambled eggs, so he jokingly called it “oh no rice.” It was the effort that counted, though. He even had to sacrifice his share of eggs for this surprise! He literally took on egg debt just to make it happen, as he needed to ask for Miguel Vergara and Carmelle Collado's eggs.
