Maxene Magalona (YFSF Season 1, 2015) - “Totoy Bibo”
Maxene transforms into a classic heartthrob as she performs Vhong Navarro’s iconic “Totoy Bibo,” perfectly embodying the look---from hairstyle to costume---down to the grooves and nuances.
Coach Jed Madela noted how challenging it must have been for Maxene to transform into someone so different from her own gender---and even into an iconic actor like Vhong. “You pulled it off… na-entertain kami. Nag-eenjoy kami, nag-eenjoy ka,” he said.
Maxene is one of the ka-Familiars who brings joy to Judge Sharon Cuneta every week, according to the Megastar herself. “Talagang Vhong na Vhong si Max ngayon. Ang galing-galing ng pagkakagaya mo,” she admired. Lastly, Judge Boy Abunda noted that Maxene resembled Vhong very well. He praised her drive to impersonate and commended how she was able to entertain him.
Maxene placed 8th at the end of the season.
Jhong Hilario (YFSF Season 3, 2021) - “Totoy Bibo”
From Jhong to Vhong, the Sample King transformed into his friend Vhong Navarro by performing “Totoy Bibo.” Jhong captured Vhong’s signature dance moves and the comedic flair he blends with his performances. Afterward, Jhong even greeted the madlang people in true Vhong Navarro fashion.
When asked how he felt about transforming into his close bud, Jhong admitted it was a bit challenging, as people expected him to perform well---having known Vhong for decades. Later on, Vhong himself shared a special message for Jhong, saying it was such an honor to be impersonated by him.
“Si Vhong ang nakita ko tonight,” said Judge Sharon Cuneta, who praised Jhong for doing a great job. Judge Ogie Alcasid noted that Jhong’s performance felt like a tribute number, “Huling-huli mo… para kang fisherman,” he said, adding that Jhong was able to capture every move of Vhong Navarro with precision.
Judge Gary Valenciano praised Jhong for making everyone feel good with his performance, adding that he successfully followed the mentors’ instructions. “It was entertainment to the max. Iba ka talaga,” he applauded.
Jarlo Base (YFSF Season 4, 2026) - “Totoy Bibo”
Jarlo unleashed his inner “Totoy Bibo,” sending everyone into cheers as he stepped out of the ‘iconator’---even Vhong Navarro himself, who hyped him up from the audience. Jarlo executed Vhong’s vocal techniques impressively. Toward the end of his number, Vhong joined Jarlo onstage, grooving to the song together.
After his performance, Jarlo shared that he enjoyed every moment, feeling as though Vhong’s spirit flowed through him. When asked how he felt being impersonated right in front of him, Vhong gave his seal of approval to Jarlo. “Na-proud ako sa’yo, nakita ko ‘yung Vhong na galaw,” he said
The judges’ remarks were full of praise for Jarlo. “Unexpected” was the word Judge Gary Valenciano used to describe his performance, “You were funny, ‘yung mga galaw mo, hindi nangibabaw. Andun din ang boses mo. Lahat ng dapat mong gawin, ginawa mo.” He applauded Jarlo once more for exceeding their expectations with his performance.
Judge Sharon Cuneta echoed the same sentiments, adding that it is difficult to impersonate someone who is both a performer and a comedian like Vhong, as you have to embody both personalities. “Ang galing mo, Jarlo. Napatawa mo kami sa galing mo, dahil parang nakikita namin si Vhong sa’yo,” she said, expressing how truly impressed she was.
“Sobrang entertaining,” said Judge Ogie Alcasid, giving his thumbs up to Jarlo.
The judges’ sentiments about Vhong Navarro are no secret. He is a true performer, with a comedic flair that never fails to make everyone around him burst into laughter. Having that rare blend of talent and charisma truly cements his status as an icon in the industry.
