"FPJ's Batang Quiapo" once again provided its devoted viewers with another action-packed episode on January 26, as we witnessed the nail-biting encounter between our well-loved primetime hero Tanggol (Coco Martin) and his abhorred nemesis Miguelito (Jake Cuenca).
The riveting clash between them sparked when Tanggol and his group agreed to finally execute their revenge plan against the Guerreros by attempting to ambush Miguelito while he was out of the city hall. But Tanggol instantly changed their plan upon realizing that Miguelito and his henchmen went to the National Election Commission (NEC) in light of rumored release of the recount results of the last elections.
Although the security was tight at the time, Tanggol and his group still managed to infiltrate the NEC headquarters by blending in with the throng of angry protesters who were able to force their way in. The group gunned down the guards who tried to block them or the protesters until Tanggol finally reached the office of the commissioner, which he forcibly opened and caught Miguelito pointing his gun at Comm. Medina, whom he attempted to bribe.
Unfortunately for the corrupt mayor and his family, the election commissioner refused to sell his dignity in spite of the tempting offer and even advised Miguelito to just heed the people’s demand for him and his family to step down from their positions. Since it was already impossible for him to stop him from exposing the fraud that the Guerreros had committed during the last election, Miguelito had no choice but to resort to threatening the life of Comm. Medina.
As if by a stroke of luck, Tanggol arrived at the scene just at the right time and managed to shoot Miguelito’s hand, which allowed Comm. Medina to escape and crawl out of his office. Tanggol and Ramon (Christopher de Leon) entrusted the commissioner to Bulldog (Mammoth Estroso), instructing him to make sure that he’s safe, as the shootout between them and the henchmen of Miguelito intensified. Miguelito, on the other hand, heeded the advice of his new right-hand man, Paul (Maynard Lapid), to leave immediately after sustaining a severe gunshot wound.
And in one of the latest reels uploaded by CCM Film Productions across its social media platforms, viewers were given an exclusive peek at what happened behind the scenes of the fierce battle of Tanggol’s group and the people of Manila against the Guerreros—with Big Mak Andaya, who plays Tanos, doing the intro.
The social media team also had the chance to catch up with Simon Ibarra, the seasoned character actor behind Comm. Medina, who enthusiastically shared his experience so far of being part of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
He expressed his admiration for how the cast and crew really exert their maximum efforts for each scene, which is carefully thought out, as well as making sure that every cast member is given their respective moments to shine. Thus, there’s definitely no wonder why the long-running primetime series is on top.
Furthermore, he also praised Coco for his awesome brilliance both as a director and actor, as well as his patience in guiding the members of the production team. The scenes they shot that day might be physically challenging or demanding, yet he found the experience satisfying once they were done filming them.
“Masaya ako na mapasama sa ‘Batang Quiapo’ at masayang-masaya ako na naka-experience ako ng fight scene,” Simon enthused. He ended the brief interview by inviting everyone to stay tuned on the series and watch out for more sure-fire and thrilling scenes in the upcoming episodes.
