Knowing that Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) is fueled by anger against his brother, Tanggol (Coco Martin), whom he shot due to his assumption that it was him who killed his pregnant girlfriend, Erika (Gillian Vicencio), Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) takes the risk of visiting him at San Dimas despite her fear of Rigor (John Estrada) to check on him.
Terrified of what might happen once she dares set her foot at their house, Marites asks Geline (Geline Garcia) to relay to Santino that she wishes to talk to him regarding his Kuya Tanggol. Hearing his brother’s voice instantly infuriates Santino, thus he brings his gun with him just in case Tanggol would also be there.
Santino confronts Marites with hostility as soon as he arrives at her location, accusing her of hiding Tanggol from him. Marites firmly denies it and asks if his anger has something to do with him shooting his brother. Overcome with emotion, Santino explains that he was driven to pull the trigger after believing Tanggol had murdered Erika and their unborn child during the bloody clash between the Montenegros and the Guerreros—the same encounter that also claimed the life of Don Gustavo (Dante Rivero).
Marites insists that Tanggol is not responsible for the deaths, but her words only fuel Santino’s fury. He lashes out, questioning why she continues to take Tanggol’s side despite everything he has done. Marites clarifies that she is not choosing sides, since she is there to mend what has been broken. While she understands Santino’s pain, grief, and rage, she pleads with him to believe that Tanggol is not the true culprit behind Erika’s death.
Unfortunately for her, Santino remains obstinate as he refuses to accept the truth being laid before him or heed Marites’ plea to reconcile with his brother. Her unwavering determination leads Santino to ask how she can still love him after all the terrible things he has done. Fighting back tears, Marites answers that it is because Tanggol is her son, he is his brother, and he is part of their family.
Despite the displeasing change in his demeanor, Marites reminds him how she loves him deeply and believes that he’s still the same Santino—his actual favorite son—whom she had raised full of love, as well as not to let himself be filled with wrath. In the end, Santino ignores his plea and chooses to walk away, leaving Marites behind with the hope that her words have reached him, even if only slightly.
