MANILA — Actor-politician Mark Lapid has returned to “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” reprising his role as Ben Camacho nearly a year after his character last appeared in the hit series.
Lapid was one of the original cast members of the series, which debuted in 2023.
His character Benjamin "Ben" Camacho last appeared in the show in February 2025 after his father Lito Lapid's character Supremo and Amanda (Lorna Tolentino) were killed.
In an interview released by CMM Film Productions, Lapid expressed excitement over his return to “Batang Quiapo.”
"Naku napakasarap. Nakaka-miss. Halos isang taon na January noong natapos, January rin ngayon. Nakaka-miss 'yung mga nakatrabaho, siyempre si direk Coco, 'yung mga kasama at 'yung production," Lapid said.
"Masayang-masaya at very excited dito sa pagbabalik ni Ben," added Lapid, admitting that his bonding time with the cast and production of the show is one of the things that he misses most.
"'Yung barkadahan, pamilya ang turing ng bawat isa," he added.
Asked what viewers can expect in the upcoming scenes, Lapid replied: "Exciting ito sa pagbabalik ni Ben dito sa 'Batang Quiapo.' Abangan niyo kung kakampi ba si Ben o kalaban."
Lapid also expressed his gratitude to all the viewers and supporters of the primetime action drama.
"Sana patuloy niyong panoorin. Lalong paganda nang paganda ang ating mga eksena. So huwag kayong bibitaw," he said.
In Wednesday's episode of "Batang Quiapo," the show's lead character Tanggol (Coco Martin) sought the help of Ben as he and his men tried to find a new hideout.
Lapid's return to "Batang Quiapo" follows the death of some major characters including Hector (Aljur Abernica) and Rockyboy (Baron Geisler), who both joined the series last September.
"FPJ’s Batang Quiapo" airs on weeknights at 8 p.m. on Kapamilya Channel and ALLTV2, and streams on iWant. It is also available on A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live, and TFC.
