Two new characters have made their entrance to the show this week, namely Patrolwoman Paula “Ponggay” Garcia (Maris Racal) and Patrolwoman Chona Vasquez (Via Antonio), who are both assigned to the Quiapo Police Station.
Just on her first appearance, Ponggay immediately made a good impression after she was able to catch and apprehend the suspect for stealing and selling the fishing boat of one of their neighbors. She was able to force the man to ‘fess up to the crime and give the money he earned from selling the boat, then warned him about sending him to prison once he does it again.
It was apparently her first day in service, so, along with her comrade Chona, they reported for duty to Police Lieutenant Hector Victorino (Aljur Abrenica). Just when he was about to interrogate them regarding their motivation for entering the police force, Ponggay quickly answered, “para po sa bayan at sa mga walang boses” (for the country and the people who can’t speak for themselves).
Despite being neophytes, Hector immediately wants to gauge their competencies as policewomen, so he commands Chona and Ponggay to join them for their mission that day.
