Just when Don Julio (Tommy Abuel) was in a good mood after he was able to close a deal with another foreign business partner, it immediately got spoiled when Ramon (Christopher de Leon) relayed to him Tanggol’s (Coco Martin) defiance of their plans once he wins the elections and becomes the mayor of Manila City.
Thus, Don Julio confronted Tanggol about him refusing to help expand their family businesses and disobeying his orders. As his grandpa reminded him that their only reason for allowing him to enter politics is for him to help their family, Tanggol told him that his top priority is the welfare of the people who will vote for him. He further expounded that he knows all too well how it can ruin a person’s life since he used to sell drugs before, so he wouldn’t want to take part in it again.
Ramon chimed in and told Tanggol that more than anyone or anything, his loyalty should always be to their family, with the people of Manila being second. However, Tanggol clapped back by telling him that unlike the Guerreros, who only used the people for their benefit, he would make sure to fulfill all the promises he made to them.
Don Julio promised Tanggol that they will support all the plans that he has for the people of Manila but on one condition—he must not neglect his responsibility to their family. Being the man of principle that he is, Tanggol strongly declined it, saying that he would be a hypocrite if he vowed to change and improve Manila then let them do whatever they want.
Apparently, Don Julio doesn’t care about his principles, as he told him the Montenegros had been doing this business even before he was born. Thus, he wouldn’t let anyone, including him, ruin and bring all of it down.
Ramon tried to gain his son’s favor by telling him that their business empire is for him and his future family, but Tanggol reiterated to him that he won’t let any illegal drugs in Manila once he becomes the mayor. This made Ramon assume that Tanggol was already cutting ties with him as his father and turning his back on being a Montenegro.
As Don Julio declared that they would push through with their illegal drug trade whether he agrees or not, Tanggol warned them that he would be the first person who would go against them once he gets elected as the mayor. His impoliteness certainly didn’t sit well with Ramon, who reminded him to know his place in this family.
