"ASAP" was in full #TeamUp mode last Sunday, August 10, as its powerhouse mainstays and stellar guest performers thrilled viewers with a spectacular lineup of collaborations and show-stopping acts that celebrated P-Pop supremacy and the spirit of coming together on one grand stage.
Kicking off the party was Darren Espanto teaming up with BINI for a refreshing performance of the Nation's Girl Group's latest hit “Secrets.” The energy kept soaring as the All-Star “ASAP” Kapamilyas went on stage, with Gary Valenciano, Yeng Constantino, and Angeline Quinto belting their version of “Sikat Ang Pinoy,” later joined by Martin Nievera, Erik Santos, and Ogie Alcasid for an even more powerful ensemble.
From there, the spotlight turned to P-Pop acts who brought their brand of magic to the "ASAP" arena singing their own tracks. Bringing smiles that Sunday afternoon was 1621’s “Bababa” which had kilig blowing through the crowd.
The three-piece girl group G22 served fierce face cards and unapologetic dance moves with “Pa-Pa-Pa-Palaban." WRIVE’s “Ooh La La” got everyone moving too, and then it was time to fall in love with CALISTA who dazzled with their every move as they performed “Alas Dose."
For the finale, BGYO turned up the heat with their heart-stealing, LSS-inducing “All These Ladies.”
The opening prod was sealed by all the performers coming together for an exhilarating finale of “Sikat Ang Pinoy."
The hype just kept building when Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Yeng Constantino, and KZ Tandingan collaborated for a total rock chick moment with Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know,” making the crowd scream every lyric like it was the grunge-pop era again.
The episode featured a special "Full Circle" segment opened by Darren and Erik with a vibrant rendition of “Let Me Entertain You.” Klarisse de Guzman and Angeline joined in to keep the track going before Maymay Entrata and AC Bonifacio tore up the stage with a sizzling dance break.
All eyes were on the newest Star Magic royalties, starting with The Mitra Sisters who proved that performing runs in the blood with their sassy mix of dance moves and vocal prowess in “Like Jennie.” The trio is composed of Ezry, Julia, and Tasha, proud daughters of Cacai and Raul Mitra, and nieces of the Asia's Songbird Regine.
Rising next was new-gen musician Christof, son of Christopher Roxas and Gladys Reyes, who melted hearts as he serenaded the audience with his own single, “Sine.”
The introductions kept coming as the show proudly welcomed more new Kapamilyas Carmella Ford, sister of Daniel Padilla; and Joaquin Arce, son of Neil Arce and stepson of Angel Locsin. The rookie artists shared how thrilled they are to be part of the Star Magic family, their dream roles, and how their families have been supportive of their journey from day one.
The brightest constellation of OPM stars lit up the "ASAP" scene in a dazzling serenade of timeless hits, opening with the classic “Tonight I Celebrate My Love” led by Bituin Escalante and Jed Madela. JM Dela Cerna and Marielle Montellano aka JMielle slid right in to keep the duet magic flowing, their voices intertwining like it was meant to be.
Jona and JM Yosures followed with another heart-stealer before Reiven Umali and Carmelle Collado shared the music limelight for a heavenly take on “Maybe." The set closed with everyone blending their vocals for a beautiful two-song mashup.
From mellow, the tempo flipped to scorching with the ASAP Dance Sirens Loisa Andalio, Chie Filomeno, and Anji Salvacion owning the dance floor in a sultry showgirl-meets-burlesque act.
The heat on the concert zone turned extra sweet when the hosts surprised Chie and Reiven with cakes and special greetings as they both celebrate their birthdays this month.
In the spirit of #TeamUp, the next act united the Kapamilya Big 4s of the latest “Pinoy Big Brother” editions, with Fyang Smith, Rain Celmar, Kolette Madelo, and Kai Montinola of "PBB Gen 11" joining forces with Brent Manalo, Ralph de Leon, Esnyr Ranollo, and River Joseph of "PBB Collab" in a pop dance number bursting with disco moves and full-color visuals.
From feel-good grooves to rock and roll fire, the concert zone kept burning hot as the ASAP Rockoustic Heartthrobs Jarren Garcia, Blackburn, Kobie Brown, Luke Alford, and Anthony Meneses jammed with OPM icon Kitchie Nadal, who kicked things off with the opening lines of her timeless hit “Bulong” before passing the momentum to the boys. The main scene returned to Kitchie for a striking solo, strumming the electric guitar while performing “Landas” from her "New Ground" EP.
Because August 10 marked International Youth Day, the celebration carried over to the finale segment "The Greatest Showdown" which the "ASAP" icons, led by Gary, Martin, and Ogie, opened with a sing-along-worthy performance of Rivermaya's "Awit ng Kabataan." Morissette Amon and Erik followed with a stirring duet of “Next in Line” which serves as a reminder for today’s youth to keep moving forward even in times of uncertainty.
Yeng, Angeline, and Klarisse then delivered a triple vocal treat with their powerful rendition of the life anthem “Ako Naman Muna,” the song composed by Angela Ken, which speaks to every young person still finding their way.
The entire ensemble blended their golden voices to finish the piece before Gary and Ogie took over once more with “Batang-Bata Ka Pa,” performing it with the heart and wisdom of mentors passing the torch to the next generation.
Everyone then came together for a hearty finale that sealed the segment and the episode in true "ASAP" fashion.
