There's no doubt that Darren Espanto was born with extraordinary talent. And talent grows best when nurtured. "ASAP" has become that playground where he could sharpen his skills and grow into the all-around performer he is today. From his early days as a young singing sensation fresh off "The Voice Kids," he's evolved into one of the longest-running Sunday variety show's vocal aces.
Darren has always been thankful to “ASAP” for being part of his journey as a performer. His first time stepping onto the “ASAP” stage was in 2014, before the grand finals of “The Voice Kids,” when the Top 6 contenders performed alongside the coaches Sarah Geronimo, Lea Salonga, and Bamboo. Back then, he was already happy and fulfilled at the thought of just being on that iconic stage. But he didn’t expect that his "ASAP" journey would continue even after the competition ended despite not being declared the grand winner.
Among his most memorable experiences as part of the program are the “ASAP” out-of-the-country shows, particularly the one in Toronto. Aside from the thrill of performing, Darren cherished the bonding moments during rehearsals and the chance to explore the city, which made the experience even more special. And having spent his childhood in Canada, being back there gave him a sense of comfort and familiarity.
He also counts himself lucky for the many collaborations he’s done on the “ASAP” stage, saying that performing with his idols—almost all of them—is one of the greatest gifts of being part of the show.
"To my ASAP family, it's a pleasure and an honor na nakasama po ako sa pamilyang ito," he said. "I love you, guys, so much. More power and more blessings to each and everyone of us."
