Good actors just know how to make even the simplest lines feel alive. A sentence can hit way harder, or funnier, or sweeter depending on who's saying it and which character they're playing. Some tweak their tone, and suddenly the dialogue carries a different ‘feel’ just because of how it’s delivered.
That’s the kind of magic RK Bagatsing showcases in this fun acting challenge where he picks a random line—either his own or another actor’s—and has to perform it again, but this time in the tone or style of a different character he’s played before.
The first character RK picked happened to be Johnny Policarpio, his current role in the series "Sins of the Father." For this round, he had to deliver the dramatic line, “Isa ka pa. Sinamantala n’yong lahat ang kahinaan ko. Hindi. Walang Bagong Taon. Wala sa pamilyang ’to ang magbabago,” and to really give it that Johnny vibe, he started it off with a casual “hoy” and ended it with an arrogant “Mga hayop kayo. Hulihin ko kayo, eh.”
RK burst out laughing when he pulled out the line, “Don’t. Don’t. Don’t. Don’t stop,” because he had to say it while channeling Greg Montenegro from "FPJ’s Batang Quiapo." He said what he remembers most about Greg is the 'angas' during his scenes with Tanggol, played by Coco Martin, so he did his best to inject that signature 'angas' into the line, which made the mismatch even funnier.
He was briefly stunned when he read, “Shoot. Tusok. Hugot. Pasok. Pero huwag mong madaliin kasi baka masaktan, kaya dahan-dahan lang,” because it sounded oddly familiar until he realized it was actually one of his lines from the sexy film "Cuddle Weather" with Sue Ramirez. He had to deliver it as Macario “Kuya Mackie” Crisostomo from "Be My Lady," a character known for his cheerful personality. As expected, RK managed to turn that suggestive dialogue into something wholesome-sounding, proof of how well he can shift tones depending on the character.
Finally, he picked Piolo Pascual’s iconic line from “Starting Over Again”—“I deserve an explanation. I deserve an acceptable reason”—but this time as David de Alegre, the easygoing and charming guy from the teleserye "Araw Gabi." The 'hugot' was still there but RK added a boy-next-door spin that gave it a completely new persona.
