It may be seldom for some of us to hear our fathers speak their minds, as they tend to give us the quiet kind of affection, but when they do, their words will definitely be ingrained in our minds and hearts for as long as we live. Thus, we can say that they could pass as among the best philosophers in the world.

Some dads may usually be stern and inclined to impart serious words of wisdom, but there are others who are expressive and confident, making it relatively easy for them to convey what they think and feel with a tinge of humor.

As we celebrate the life, hardwork, and wisdom of the most important men in our lives who unfalteringly give us unconditional love this Father’s Day, we asked a few of our favorite celebrities regarding the best or quirkiest advice they’ve ever received from their fathers, and we collated their responses in this exclusive video!

At 23, Andi Abaya finds it funny that his dad still reminds her not to have a boyfriend. However, she’s certain that it is just a joke and that he trusts her so much.

Darren Espanto confessed that he actually finds it cringe-y whenever his dad and mom give him love advice, such as proper ways of panliligaw or courtship. “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition” ex-housemate Josh Ford couldn’t help but chuckle as he remembered being given pointers by his dad on how to date a girl and even pledged to pay for their expenses.

While other parents are firm in advising their children to finish their education, “PBB Gen 11” 3rd Placer Kolette Madelo recalled being told by his father not to go to school anymore. However, she knew that he was just being ‘sarcastic’ at the time in order to further push her to study.

Alexa Ilacad shared something that her dad had told her and her siblings, which was exactly not an advice. Their dad had reminded them that he would accept, support, and love them no matter what they become in life or what they choose to do.

Jameson Blake was able to pick up some words of wisdom from his dad, one of which is, “Expensive is cheap; cheap is expensive.” It may be profound, yet it makes sense in the long run and reminds him to know his priorities in life.

Faithful to her daddy’s advice, “PBB Gen 11” Big Winner Fyang Smith has been choosing to enjoy her life and spend her time on valuable things that her future self will benefit from. Rain Celmar, on the other hand, was reminded by her dad to always be at her best. It may be cliché, but she said that hearing those words makes her feel comfortable and more confident to give out the things that she could do.

ASAP Rockoustic Heartthrob member Kobie Brown may still be new in the industry, yet we know that he has the potential to go far in his career, for he has his father’s advice, which is “fail to prepare, prepare to fail,” to guide him in life everyday.

Edward Barber confessed getting annoyed of his dad in the past since he has the tendency to speak with anyone he crosses paths with wherever they go, regardless of if he knows them or not. However, it was only until he became an adult that he realized that his dad was such a naturally nice, respectful, and friendly man, for he doesn’t choose the person he gets to talk to.

We may often see him dance on “ASAP,” but Jeremy Glinoga is actually also a good singer. Thus, he related that among the best advice that he got from his dad had something to do with his music career. As an overthinker, especially when it comes to his music, he shared that his dad advised him to do whatever makes his heart happy and try not to adjust to the trends or what other people like, which he realized indeed works for him.

Ken San Jose imparted that his dad’s number one piece of advice to him is to always have faith in God, which is similar to what Jona received from her late father, which was to pray and seek the help of God all the time.

Since her dad is the serious type, KZ Tandingan simply related the best advice that he had conveyed to her, which is to never give up on her dreams.

Meanwhile, Kapamilya host Robi Domingo recalled the love advice that he received from his dad at the time when he was going through a break-up. Robi recounted being brought by him to an Italian restaurant while he was still bawling his eyes out and had a poignant father-and-son moment there, wherein his dad imparted the idea of how choosing the right partner and picking clothes at the department store are the same. In spite of the many colors, designs, and styles to choose from, we’ll always opt for the one that is the most comfortable to wear because it suits us the best.

And lastly, aside from training her vocal prowess and supporting her endeavors, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid also recalled being given some career tips by her late dad, fondly addressed by many as Mang Gerry. Among those is for her to respect other people’s time, such as by being punctual at work, which she gets to apply in the industry she has been in for decades now.
