As much as we want bad people to be completely eradicated, it’s just unfortunately impossible to happen as long as there are people who are willing to support, empower, or connive with them.

Just like David Dimaguiba (McCoy de Leon), one of the despicable and hated villains in "FPJ’s Batang Quiapo," who has found a new ally in Atty. Vera Saldivar (Maika Rivera) following the death of Olga (Irma Adlawan). Through her help, he’s able to continue carrying out his mischievous plans, most especially in toppling down the Montenegro family and its legitimate one and only heir, Tanggol (Coco Martin), his half-brother whom he has considered as his perennial archnemesis.

And in this edition of Kapamilya Toplist, let us look back on the 15 scenes from the formidable primetime action drama series that made us either hate or pity Vera for being an “enabler” to David for letting herself be hoodwinked by him into blindly obeying his every command and being his accomplice in every evil thing that he does.

Those who have been religiously watching "FPJ's Batang Quiapo" over the past two years can probably recall that Vera used to work for Olga. It was actually the latter who recommended her to David to be the one to process the transfer of all the Montenegro assets under his name. However, their first meeting happened following the Caballero Family massacre since she was also the one who handled the wealth and properties of the slain family.

At first, her captivating splendor and charm were not enough for her to immediately gain the full trust of David since he was really cautious about getting his real identity exposed. But following the demise of his ally, Olga, he was left with no other options but to put his confidence in her with regard to everything that needed her legal expertise.

Just when we thought that he was going to betray or abandon David after Olga’s death, Vera chose to continue representing him in exchange for taking home 20% of the total sales of the properties that he was supposed to obtain, which he promised to her. Aside from being his lawyer, Vera seemed to have instantly turned into David’s personal assistant as she obeyed his every command, such as processing his and his father’s passports, paying Rigor’s (John Estrada) hospital bills, delivering the land title that he used to gamble, and purchasing guns for him.

Despite his nasty attitude towards her and the people around him when they were together, she has remained outrageously loyal to him. Aside from being constantly berated and insulted by him for her “shortcomings” and “blunders” as his lawyer, Vera also experienced having to defend him from his family’s angry neighbors in Sandimas and from their barangay chairman (Rey Campanilla).

The most horrible thing that she had done for him, probably, was when she attempted to stop Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) from escaping despite the fact that what David and Rigor did to her was illegal detention. Even though her client’s family matters are already out of her business, we believe that as a woman, she should’ve done something to help Marites, or maybe she could have taken the chance to run away from David.

Little did she know that after doing everything for him and would later on use her as a pawn or payment to Congressman Miguelito Guerrero (Jake Cuenca) during their one-on-one card game. Wanting to take advantage of Miguelito’s power and fortune, David pimped her to him, who was apparently fond of her. As she called him out for what he just did to her, David arrogantly told her these highly deplorable statements: “Ano bang silbi ng maganda mong katawan kung di natin gagamitin?”, “Huwag ka nang mag-inarte,” and “Iligo mo na lang ‘yan.”

Despite all the foolish acts that she did for David and her blind obedience to him, we believe that Vera is still worthy of admiration for giving him “real talks” and being tough towards him sometimes, for standing up for herself whenever he’s being too much, and for calling him out whenever he did wrong.
