Sometimes we just don't like endings, especially when we’ve grown so attached to characters who already feel like friends. That’s exactly what makes the final chapter of "It’s Okay to Not Be Okay" so bittersweet and a little heartbreaking.
For months, we’ve followed Patrick (Joshua Garcia), Mia (Anne Curtis), and Matmat (Carlo Aquino) on their healing journey, and we’ve become so comfortable with them that it almost feels like we’ve been part of their world.
We, viewers, are excited just the same, of course, as the mysteries and questions will finally be answered and each character’s story will reach its resolution. But forgive us for being this sentimental. We're just feeling the looming sadness of saying goodbye to a series we’ve loved.
Star Creatives just made the 'sepanx' hit even harder with a reel compiling some of the most heartwarming behind-the-scenes moments from the entire shoot. And with Angela Ken’s “Kathang Isip” setting the mood, the whole thing just turned us into puddles of softies.
“It truly was such an amazing journey for each and everyone of us. I hope you loved the Filipino touch we did for our version of ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,’” says Anne in the video, while Joshua shares that he'll truly miss the bond and memories he shared with the cast.
Lock-in taping in Iloilo and other provinces turned the cast into family. Carlo, who continues to be praised every night for his portrayal of Matmat, never thought they would be this close. "Hindi ko ine-expect na magiging gano'n yung rapport namin together. Sobrang na-appreciate ko 'yung binibigay nilang love and respect." These are the moments he'll forever cherish. "Marami akong baon galing sa series na 'to."
Better grab a tissue because we're about to relive some “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” memories that hit right in the feels. The short clip brings us back to their first day in Iloilo, and the giggles and nonstop 'kulitan' and endless 'hugs' in between takes. We also get 'pasilip' into the making of some unforgettable scenes, like when Enchong Dee nearly fell from the mansion staircase and Joshua swooped in just in time, or when Joshua taught Anne the butterfly hug. He's also her tutor for tongue-twisting Tagalog lines. And remember that bridge scene where Mia shouted, “Mahal na mahal kita, Patrick?" Joshua's 'kilig' reaction was caught on cam!
Truly, it was a happy set. Every day felt like a happy day!
The cast ends their send-off with a message of gratitude and goodbye that honestly feels like a warm hug to every viewer who joined them in this journey. “Maraming salamat po at sana’y patuloy n’yong suportahan ang ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,’” Joshua says. Carlo follows, “Salamat sa project na ’to. Sobrang masaya na malungkot. Thank you.” And then Anne closes it with, “Thank you so much, we love you. And remember, it’s okay to not be okay.”
